"The LHC is a discovery machine," said CERN Director General Robert Aymar, "its research programme has the potential to change our view of the Universe profoundly, continuing a tradition of human curiosity that's as old as mankind itself."
On September 10, 2008 the Large Hadron Collider at CERN was started up after 2 decades of planning and construction. The 27 kilometer particle accelerator will allow humanity to probe the nature of matter in ways that until now have been impossible.
